Exciting morning for our WP3 team. We deployed a final run with the time lapse camera in our deep sea area. This time the camera will take a picture of baited kelp tray every 90 minutes from now until October, 2017.
Well folks... it is time to bring up the time lapse camera. First step, position the ship over the drop location, lower a transceiver over the side and send an acoustic code down to 400 m to tell the rig to drop weights.
There was a time when the only gear you needed to answer all the pressing kelp-related questions was a scuba tank, a quadrat, flagging tape, and an unreasonable amount of cable ties. Times are changing and WP3 is definitely upping their equipment game.
